Sometimes. It depends on the day's schedule and where you are in the county. When you call or book, we give you the earliest window we can actually keep rather than a time we might miss. Booking earlier in the day gives you the best chance of a same-day visit.

We'll give you a straight answer. If the repair would cost more than about half the price of a comparable new unit and the appliance is past the middle of its expected life, replacing it usually makes more sense. We show you the estimate so you can weigh it yourself, and we won't push a repair we don't think will last.

We're an independent repair company, not a manufacturer's warranty center, so if your appliance is still under the factory warranty, contact the manufacturer first so the repair is covered.

Repairs carry a 90-day parts and 30-day labor warranty. If the same fault comes back inside that window, we return and fix it at no charge.

It can. Within a few miles of the coast, salt air corrodes condenser coils, fan motors, wiring terminals and door hinges faster than it does inland, especially on appliances kept in a garage. In Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Point Loma and La Jolla we look for corrosion around the failed part, not just the part itself.

Inland neighborhoods like El Cajon, Santee and parts of La Mesa get hot in summer, and a closed garage gets hotter still. Many refrigerators and freezers aren't designed to run in that kind of heat, so the compressor runs constantly and the inside never gets cold enough. Clean coils and some airflow help; sometimes the honest answer is a garage-rated unit or a different spot.

Much of San Diego's water is hard, and the minerals settle in dishwasher spray arms and filters, ice maker fill tubes, water inlet valves and washer inlet screens. That shows up as cloudy dishes, slow fills or an ice maker that quits. Changing the refrigerator filter on schedule and running a dishwasher cleaner helps; a valve that's already clogged usually needs replacing.
